Stories were circulating regarding Frank Trigg's cut from the UFC and subsequently a retirement from fighting but it appears 'Twinkle Toes' will be given another shot in the Octagon following his UFC 103 loss to Josh Koscheck.

Trigg confirmed via a series of messages on Twitter that he would retire should he be dropped from the 'major league' of MMA.

"I think there is a mistake. IF the UFC drops me I will retire, as of right now I'm still with the UFC looking for my next fight. ....."

"If I can't fight for the UFC, I will move on to something else."

"Everybody relax, thx 4 the well wishes, I'm in until Joe silva tells me i'm out. I meant if they let me go I dont wnt 2 fight else whr"

Speaking to MMA Junkie, Trigg stated that the UFC would give him another chance to prove his worth.

"They said I'll get one more shot, another fight, to prove I belong here," he revealed. "If I win, they've got to keep me around. If I lose and it's back-to-back losses, they'll probably drop me, rightfully so."

Trigg's decision to take such a tough fight against a top contender upon his return did him some favours and it is down to Koscheck's calibre that Trigg is being given another opportunity inside the Octagon.

"They basically said, 'If you lose, we have to keep you for one more fight since Josh is a top-five guy and it's such a tough fight. That's why I was so surprised that Dana said that I was being cut."

It is unclear when we will see Trigg back in action but one thing is clear: Trigg only wants to operate on the highest level.

"I'm ready to fight, and I want to fight but I just want to fight in the UFC."
