SAUGERTIES — Police say a man forced his way into his ex-girlfriend's home and attacked her friend with a hammer before fleeing the scene. Jimmy Quick, 36, of Mount Marion, has been charged with first-degree criminal contempt and second-degree assault, both felonies, and two counts of second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor. Advertisement Police responded at 1:46 a.m. Tuesday to the home of Quick's ex-girlfriend. She reported that he had entered the home in violation of an order of protection and began a verbal argument that escalated into a physical confrontation. He allegedly struck her friend in the hand and wrist with a hammer. After the friend called police, Quick fled the scene, police say. He later surrendered to Saugerties police. He was arraigned in front of Judge Daniel Lamb Jr. and sent to Ulster County Jail on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Saugerties Justice Court at a later date.
