The Toys 'R' Us store in Palm Desert is back open with beefed up security after Friday's shootout that sent horrified shoppers running for their lives and left two men dead. The names of those men have now been released: Alejandro Moreno, 39, of Desert Hot Springs and Juan Meza, 28, of Cathedral City. The fighting and shootout took place as dozens of shoppers filled the isles. "I saw the man shooting. It's not something that you can easily erase. I keep waking up thinking about it," said a witness who did not want to be identified. Witnesses say two women started fighting. As the argument grew, the men they were with got involved and shots rang out. "We crouched down and people were laying there. We decided to run," said one witness. Less than 24 hours after the double shooting, Toys 'R' Us doors were open again and customers were back shopping, but, after Friday's chaos, things are different inside the store. "It's a weird feeling when you walk in," said shopper Sandra Neira. "You know something happened." Officers guarded the doors and employees were trying to put shoppers at ease even offering the Black Friday deals that the customers missed out on when the bedlam ensued. Those who witnessed the rage hesitantly returned. "We thought 'do we want to come back?'," said a shopper Saturday. As customers left the store, they were full of questions and concerns. "We are wondering what caused this. Did they know each other? Why would they bring it into a toy store?" asked one Toys 'R' Us shopper. Getting the answers may take time as law enforcement continues the investigation. In the meantime, witnesses won't let fear take over. "That's where those people happened to be and we happened to be there."
