Man slashed after bar fight

YONKERS - A birthday party turned violent early this morning when a fight between friends left a city man slashed in the face at an upscale riverfront restaurant and bar, officials said.

Yonkers police on patrol saw people fighting as they left the Pier View Restaurant and Bar at 1 Van Der Donck St. shortly after 3 a.m., Yonkers Lt. David Lavezzoli said.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was found outside with stab wounds to his face and transported to the hospital.

Police believe the incident began on the second floor of the bar, which was hosting a private party.

"They saw a large amount of blood, broken glass and debris on the floor," Lavezzoli said.

Timothy Philp, Pier View's general manager, said all was going well at the party until a confrontation between two men got ugly.

"Two drunk friends had an argument," he said.

Philp said licensed security guards already on scene tried to defuse the situation, to no avail.

Police said witnesses at the party and the victim have not cooperated with investigators.

Philp said he was baffled over a baseless rumor that the rapper Jadakiss, who hails from Yonkers, was hosting the party.

"He wasn't even there," he said.
